After her PhD graduation in 2005 (Montpellier and Liège univ.), Caroline Nieberding (born 1979) obtained a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship in Paul Brakefield’s lab (Leiden univ., the Netherlands). Since September 2008, she has a permanent position as an Associate Professor at UCLouvain (Belgium) and leads her research group in Evolutionary Ecology and Genetics. Her primary research interests are in the field of evolutionary ecology: she investigates the behavioural, physiological and molecular bases of reproductive isolation and speciation in natural populations. She is also interested in sexual selection as a driving force of lineage diversification, in dispersal as a barrier or a facilitator of adaptation and of reproductive isolation, in chemical ecology and the main mode of communication between living organisms, and in learning as a behavioural trait that allows non genetic transmission of adaptive behavioural traits across generations. She is a scientific advisor for the International Society of Chemical Ecology (ISCE) and for the Louvain4Evolution think-tank at UCLouvain that brings the Evolutionary theory to the general society since 2015. She is a scientific editor of the journal Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution section Chemical Ecology and part of the Peer Community in (PCI Evolutionary Biology, PCI Ecology and PCI Entomology). She is also the President of the Belgian FNRS Doctoral School of Biology, Ecology and Evolution since 2012. She teaches about 150 hours a year from Bachelor 1 to Master 2 levels in : Evolution, Ecology, Molecular Ecology, Biogeography, diversity of Terrestrial biomes,….
